Forbes Ranks Texas Health as Top Employer for Diversity

What are the benefits of diversity in the workplace?

Recently, Forbes magazine ranked Texas Health Resources number 140 on its list of the Best Employers for Diversity. The national list polled respondents with questions about employee gender, age, ethnicity, LGBTQ+, and other diversity indicators.  Texas Health is honored to have ranked top among the most inclusive employers in the country.  Texas Health issued a public release expressing pride over the award and stating that the workplace is comprised of more than 40 percent of employees who identify themselves as part of an ethnic population.  Our Austin, Texas business law employees applaud Texas Health for its recent ranking and discuss the many benefits of having a diverse workplace below.

Benefits of Diversity in the Workplace

A workplace can be diverse in many ways.  Diversity in the workplace can be accomplished through the hiring of employees of all backgrounds and ages.  A diverse workplace will include people of different genders, age brackets, races, cultures, sexual orientations, religions, and the like.  There are many benefits to employing a diverse blend of employees, including:

  1. A range of talents and experiences:  Individuals who hail from diverse backgrounds will offer a wide selection of talents and experiences that could greatly benefit your business.  An array of different skills and approaches to problem solving allows employees to learn from one another, while enabling employees with certain talents to fill specialty positions.
  2. Fostering innovation:  A workplace that abounds with people of different experiences, backgrounds and working styles can foster innovation and creativity within the workplace.  Individual thinkers bring with them out of the box ideas and approaches to problems that will make for exciting collaboration with other employees.
  3. Broadening your client base:  Employees of different ethnicities may bring with them language skills that can help your company to reach out to a different client base.  In today’s increasingly connected world, having a workforce comprised of employees who speak a range of different languages and have an array of cultural backgrounds could appeal to your client base.

Employees in Texas and elsewhere should strive to achieve a dynamic and inclusive workplace.  For assistance in hiring matters, employee handbooks, and other critical business steps, contact a business law attorney in your area.
